Tata Announces WiMAX Spend Over Next Three Years

Tata Communications, the Indian telecommunications service provider, plans to expand its WiMAX network coverage to 115 towns from the existing 60, over the course of the current financial year. This will also entail the launch of broadband WiMAX services across four to five cities in the country. The intended service launch takes into account the imminent auction of spectrum reserved for WiMAX by the government, expected to occur at around the same time that 3G licences are awarded later this year.
