Vodafone Shows Interest In Nigeria
July 2008 | Company News AlertWith 7.6mn net additions to the Nigerian mobile market in the six months ended June 2008, the country's total subscriber base reached 49.607mn, according to figures released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). This represented growth of 18.2% and is on target to surpass the 24% annual increase reported in 2007. By the end of 2008, BMI forecasts a total subscriber base of 52mn to achieve a penetration rate of just 33%. A market potential of 157mn people and the licensing of a handful of new competitors have been responsible for driving this level of growth.
