Regulator Approves Removal Of Ownership Caps

Mexico's telecommunications regulator, Cofetel, has said it would support the removal of foreign ownership caps in the telecoms market. At present foreign ownership can only be to a maximum of 49% of any operator, restricting foreign investment in the sector, although a foreign company may acquire non-voting shares in a company above the 49% cap.
