Israel Grants Experimental WiMAX Licence To MIRS

Israel's Ministry of Communications (MoC) has approved a request from MIRS Communications, Israel's smallest mobile operator, to perform a 'technological experiment' using a broadband wireless access platform based on WiMAX technology. The MoC gave its approval for MIRS to come up with a format for the provision of various broadband, mobile telephony and multimedia and data communications services using the nascent technology.
