Swan Telecom To Enter India As MVNO

July 2008 | Company News Alert

Swan Telecom is in negotiations with India's state-owned telecoms operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to utilise the latter's mobile network in providing services. Along the lines of a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) agreement, which allows an operator to piggyback over an established operator's network, this reduces operating costs significantly and enables services to be launched quickly. No financial details were released, according to The Business Standard. BSNL has not commented on the talks, although the Department of Transport has confirmed the offer from Swan Telecom.
