Telmex Eyes First Steps Into Pay-TV Market

Fixed-line incumbent Telmex has stated that it plans to offer a limited video service over its fixed network. The announcement comes after number portability was launched in the country at the start of July, removing the last restriction on Telmex's pay-TV plans. The Mexican regulator, Cofetel, prevented Telmex from offering pay TV services over its network before completing three requirements, including number portability, interoperability and interconnection with rival operators.
