MetroMax Plots Russia-Wide WiMAX Expansion

Russian regional WiMAX operator MetroMax is planning to expand its network to cover an increasing number of cities and regions and ultimately aims to become a nationwide operator, according to a report published by Cnews.ru. MetroMax plans to open six new regional networks in the Samara region within the next three months; this would increase coverage to 14 networks by the end of 2008. Further expansion will be achieved through mergers, acquisitions and a mooted public share offering.
