UK Sees Launch Of Sixth Mobile Operator

The UK has seen the launch of its sixth mobile network operator, with Mapesbury Communications' new UK01 GSM service. UK01 will have base stations in public phone kiosks run by WiFi operator Spectrum Interactive, allowing subscribers to select the service when in range of UK01's network. UK01 aims to become a major mobile operator in the UK, the company stated, and will target specific markets - although it did not detail which, offering an alternative to existing mobile network operators.
