Carphone Warehouse: Broadband Growth Affected By Housing Market

UK alternative broadband operator and mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse has announced its full-year financial results for the year ended March 29 2008. Its profits rose sharply, to GBP124mn, an 81% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase. However, the operator said that it expects growth in broadband subscriptions and mobile phone sales to be lower over the next two years, stating that the European handset market has 'been flat or marginally down year-on-year'. Carphone Warehouse also warned investors that the weakening economy and slowing broadband growth would have an impact on its sales growth in coming years.
