Expansion Of Fibre Optic Network Begins On Java

Power Telecom, the Indonesian fibre-optic network provider, has begun the expansion of its network roll out on the island of Java. The roll out is set to increased the availability of telecoms and internet access across the region and comprises an 833km fibre optic link connecting the capital, Jakarta, to Surabaya and adding to an existing 500km cable link in Greater Jakarta and Bandung. The company will spend IDR800bn (US$86mn) on deploying the cable on Java with the intention of completing the project by the end of Q308.
