Telefónica Aims For 150mn Latin American Subscribers

Spanish incumbent Telefónica has stated that it intends to have 150mn subscribers across its Latin American operations by the end of 2008, a full year earlier than previously expected. The company, which operates mobile, fixed-line, broadband and pay-TV services in 13 countries across the region, had 134mn subscribers at the end of 2007. During that year Telefónica recorded faster growth for its Latin America operations than in its domestic and European operations.
