Entel Increases Investment For 2008, Focus On Mobile

Chile's Entel has announced its capital investment plans for 2008. The operator is increasing capital expenditure for the year by 26.8% compared with 2007, with a planned investment of US$350mn on infrastructure. Entel also intends to spend US$120mn on mobile handsets as it competes in one of the most mature mobile markets in Latin America. Entel is the largest telecoms operator in Chile, operating in the mobile, fixed-line and broadband sectors, and is the second largest mobile operator in the country, with a market share of 38.6% at the end of 2007.
