Telkom Rejects Oger Bid, New Network Planned

Incumbent South African fixed-line operator, Telkom SA, has rejected an approach from Oger Telecom, saying that it will not consider the sale of the group or any of its units or joint ventures unless it has a compelling strategic rationale for doing so. Oger Telecom, a division of Dubai-based Saudi Oger, submitted an offer in January to buy a stake in Telkom in exchange for its 60% stake in South Africa's smallest cellular operator, Cell C.
