Samsung To Open Plant In Vietnam
March 2008 | FDI AlertSouth Korea-based Samsung has settled on Vietnam as the location of its fifth Asian handset production facility. The world's second largest handset provider after Nokia has plans to invest US$670mn in establishing a plant based in Bac Nihn province, North Vietnam. Confirmation has come from authorities in Bac Ninh, stating that a proposal had been submitted by Samsung in February this year, although the planning and investment department said it was still waiting for some papers. An official said, 'once they fill in all necessary papers, we will grant the investment licence right away.'
