Lattelecom Ownership Agreed
March 2008 | Privatisation AlertLatvia's Ministry of Transport has revealed that an agreement concerning the ownership of incumbent fixed-line operator Lattelecom has been reached with its foreign shareholder, TeliaSonera, although government approval is still required. The new agreement effectively annuls the US$1.05bn offer TeliaSonera had previously offered for the government's remaining shares of both Lattelecom and its wireless affiliate, Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT); this offer had been rebuffed as it was considered to have been anti-competitive.
