Honduras Gets 3G Mobile

Latin American mobile operator América Móvil has announced its fourth 3G services launch this year. The company's clients in Honduras had access to 3G services from February 18 2008, making it the first operator to launch such services in the country. América Móvil, which operates under brand name Claro, has now launched 3G services in eight Latin American countries - Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Paraguay as well as El Salvador and now Honduras - giving it a head start over rivals in many cases. Claro Honduras' Iván Pastor, director of technology, announced that the company spent US$50mn on the installation of 3G technology for the launch.
