Athir WiMAX Service Launched In Algeria

Algérie Télécom - in partnership with Galaxia Telecom International (GTI) - has launched its wireless broadband service, Athir. The operator and equipment vendor claim that this marks the first commercial application of WiMAX technology on a nationwide scale in the African market. GTI has also announced the listing of its shares on the Open Market of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
