Mobile Operators Offer Converged Services

February 2008 | Company News Alert

Spain's second largest mobile operator, Vodafone, has launched a fixed-mobile service to compete with fixed-line incumbent Telefónica. Vodafone launched a similar product in 2006 for the corporate sector, but this is the first time that it has made steps into the residential market. The low cost tariffs offered by Vodafone apply when the user is within a certain radius of their home zone with calls outside of this zone charged at normal Vodafone rates. The company is offering a flat tariff of EUR15 per month for 1,000 minutes of free calls to landlines from the home zone.
