Expenditure Plans See AIS Eager To Claim 3G Licence

AIS, Thailand's mobile market leader, has announced an investment plan worth US$600mn for the sole purpose of developing its 3G network during 2008. AIS will seek to fund its network plans through loans, according to The Bangkok Post, providing capacity for 10mn users. The amount to be spent next year is thought to form part of an earlier investment plan to plough THB8bn into the operator's 3G upgrades and maintenance.
