SK Telecom Turns Thoughts To Pakistan
October 2007 | Project NewsIn an intriguing development, Korean mobile operator SK Telecom has bid for a stake in an unidentified Pakistani telecoms operator. In an attempt to expand operations from beyond its domestic saturated market, SK Telecom is looking for a way to enter the high-growth mobile markets of Pakistan, India and Indonesia. It already has a 6.6% stake in China Unicom and has a mobile joint venture in Vietnam. The Korean operator may struggle to get its foot in the door in India with the TRAI limiting the number of new applicants for mobile licences, whilst Pakistan presents its own problems.
