Wataniya Gets Green Light For Palestine Launch
October 2007 | Project NewsWataniya has moved one step closer to launching mobile services in the Palestinian Territories after reviving the necessary frequencies from Israel's Communications Ministry. The Palestinian Telecommunications and Economy Minister Kamal Hassouneh said that his Israeli counterpart had 'no objection' to granting frequency spectrum to the Kuwait-based operator, which is now majority-controlled by Qatar's Qtel. Hassouneh added that Israel is obliged to grant frequencies for communications services in Palestine under the terms of the Oslo peace accords.
