Cisco To Invest US$1.59bn In UAE Over Five Years

Cisco Systems has said that it will invest up to AED5.8bn (US$1.59bn) on information and communications technology (ICT) in the United Arab Emirates over the next five years. The company will open a new regional headquarters in Dubai in April 2008, which will employ up to 650 people by the end of 2010. It will host one of Cisco's most advanced customer briefing centres, allowing the company to showcase the latest innovations in IP networking technology. Cisco will also open an office in Abu Dhabi in June 2008 to serve the growing customer base in the capital. The investment will support the country's 10-year growth and development plan, scheduled to end in 2015.
