Telmex Closes On ZAP TV Deal

Telmex has entered into the competitive Chilean triple play market, following the completion of its acquisition of local satellite TV operator Zap TV. Telmex will offer its customers converged services of satellite TV, mobile and broadband over the WiMAX network it launched in March 2007. The operator has commented that the platform will allow it to cover remote municipalities where installing cable can be both costly and difficult. By the end of this year, Telmex is expecting its WiMAX network to cover 91% of the Chilean population of 16.7mn people.
