Nigerian Operators Slam Tax Increase

Nigeria's mobile operators have voiced their anger at the recent hike in value added tax (VAT) on mobile services imposed by the federal government. At a meeting in Lagos held in early June, the Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) described the newly introduced 10% VAT rate as unacceptable and likely to have a negative impact on the take-up of mobile services.
