Vodafone and Orange Go Head to Head on 3.5G Advanced Services in Romania

June 2007 | Company News Alert

Service revenues for Vodafone's Eastern Europe operations increased by 76% y-o-y during the first three months of 2007. This was very much led by the carrier's unit in Romania, which recorded 23% y-o-y subscriber growth and a 29% y-o-y rise in local currency service revenues. A series of promotional low offers and a subsequent increase in voice usage levels are partly behind these good results. However, Vodafone will be particularly pleased with y-o-y data revenue growth of 65%, and can expect such increases to continue as the operator expands its 3G network coverage, introduces 3G broadband services and records a rise in the sales of Vodafone Mobile Connect data cards.
