U:fon Targets Data Market Growth In Czech Republic

One of the most notable features of the Czech Republic's mobile market is its apparent ability to produce growth - even in spite of apparent market saturation. At the end of 2006, there were 12.3mn subscribers representing nearly 121% penetration. Clearly, subscriber growth will slow, but BMI remains confident that there are further growth opportunities, and that penetration can move on to 135% by the end of 2011. However, where growth appears to be slower than expected is for mobile data services, and we have therefore downgraded our 3G forecasts with our latest estimates suggesting 20-25% of the country's mobile subscribers will be using 3G services by the end of 2010.
