Costa Rica Offers Additional GSM Lines To Meet Demand

Costa Rica has long been cited as retaining one of the least liberalised telecoms markets in Latin America. State-owned company ICE (also known as the National Utilities Company), runs a monopoly across the fixed-line, internet and mobile sectors, with its subsidiary RACSA. Although the operator's services have satisfied demand in the past, there has now resulted a communications gap, which is causing problems particularly for the mobile sector.
