BSkyB Hails Broadband Success
May 2007 | Company Finance AlertSatellite broadcaster BSkyB has unveiled strong customer growth for the first quarter of 2007, vindicating the company's aggressive entry into the UK broadband market. BSkyB, which is part-owned by media giant News Corporation, said that its new triple-play packages, which combine the company's core satellite TV service with broadband access and voice telephony, had helped it to achieve a 25% increase in new subscribers. The operator added 340,000 new customers during the quarter, taking its subscriber total to 8.5mn. BSkyB's chief executive James Murdoch has set the challenge of reaching 10mn subscribers by 2010.
