Telmex To Buy Out Two More Cable Companies

Telmex, the Mexican fixed line operator is to acquire a further two Colombian cable operators, Cablecentro and Satelcaribe, after signing agreements with the companies. These agreements follow the fixed line operator's purchase in 2006 of three Colombian cable operators, Superview, Cable Pacifico and TV Cable. With a lead position in Colombia's mobile market through sister company América Móvil's ownership of Comcel, which subsequently won 13 regional WiMAX licenses in the January 2007 auction, Telmex's aim is to offer triple play services in the country.
