Telmex Seeks To Acquire Cable Operator

Fixed-line operator Telmex Peru is at present in negotiations over the potential acquisition of the country's second-largest cable TV operator Cable Express. With operations in the capital Lima and in the northern city of Chiclayo, the cable company, owned by Boga Communications, accounts for just 4% of the total cable TV market, compared to market leader Telefónica del Peru (TdP), with an 87% share. At present, there are some 564,275 cable TV subscribers, according to government statistics.
