Elion Looks To HDTV To Compensate Fixed-Line Losses

Estonia's fixed-line market is following the pattern seen across Europe. Subscriber numbers are falling, lured away by mobile phones and cheap internet telephony services. While a falling population has kept the fixed-line penetration rate steady at around 33% in recent years, the number of fixed-lines in service has dropped from 445,000 in 2003 to an estimated 439,000 at the end of 2006.
