Algeria Offers Up Strong Growth Variables

Just two years since launching its mobile services in Algeria, No3 operator Nedjma, owned by Kuwait's Wataniya is expected to see its overall market share rise by 2.3 percentage points to 14.7% as of YE06. Having registered subscriber growth of 100% over 2006, the operator claimed a mobile subscriber base of 3mn users. Nedjma is joined by market leader Djezzy, owned by Orascom Telecom, which saw its subscriber base rise by 64% y-o-y as of Q306, to attain a market share of 51.5%. Meanwhile No2 operator Mobilisis the mobile unit of Algeria's incumbent operator Algerie Telecom and has a 36.1% stake.
