Deadline Approaches For EU-Wide Regulatory Plans
February 2007 | Industry NewsNational telecoms regulators across Europe are in a race against time to come up with viable proposals on how to coordinate their powers into an EU-wide regulatory body. In a letter sent to the EU's 27 separate national telecoms authorities (NRAs), the European Commissioner responsible for telecommunications, Viviane Reding, set a deadline of February 16 for the receipt of a satisfactory proposal. Otherwise, the Commissioner has pledged to push for greater powers for the European Commission itself, at the expense of national regulatory
