America Movil Agrees To Extend CANTV Acquisition Deadline

America Movil , Latin America's leading mobile operating giant has extended the deadline to acquire a stake in Venezuela's fixed-line incumbent CANTV to February 28, 2007, from its original deadline of December 29, 2006. The decision to stall the deadline date by two months is due to the Venezuelan company awaiting to hear a ruling from the government on the exact amount it owes its former employees regarding pension obligations.
