Oger Telecom To Make A Move As Vodafone's Back Is Turned

Oger Telecom, the pan-Middle Eastern operator, which acquired a 55% stake in Turk Telekom last year at a cost of US$6.5bn has spotted an ideal opportunity in the Turkish telecoms market. Oger Telecom, through its holding in the former state-owned operator also has a presence in the mobile market in No3 operator Avea. It is within this market, that the company believes it is well placed to rapidly grow Avea's market share, which stood at an estimated 15% in Q206, against Turkcell (61% share) and Telsim (25% share). Oger Telecom is seeking to take advantage of Vodafone's preoccupation regarding improvements
