November 2006 | Contract NewsAs a few core Gulf-based telecoms operators make their presence felt in the African mobile industry, taking advantage of the low penetration rates at around 10%, some of their fixed-line counterparts are similarly making a beeline for the continent. With fixed-line services becoming more unpopular in the GCC, as increasing numbers migrate to mobile, fixed-line operators are seeking to build on their internet businesses. To this end, the ability to offer corporate customers ADSL connectivity to international markets such as Africa, where business from Middle Eastern companies is growing has become important, and should bring about a boost to operator
