BMI Telecoms Rankings Reveal Pakistan as Key Growth Market in Asia

Business Monitor International's latest telecommunications Business Environment Rankings for the Asia region may show little change at the head of the table, but there is dramatic change towards the lower reaches with Pakistan finally moving away from the bottom two countries, and Thailand in free fall becoming the region's second least attractive business environment. While Pakistan's rise has been spurred by the market's continued growth potential, the excellent performance of investor operators (Warid Telecom and Telenor) and the PTA's encouragement of this growth, the political fallout of the recent coup in Thailand has left the industry in a mess.
