Ukrtelecom Plans to Test Appetite for 3G Services

The Ukrainian mobile market, which is already both competitive and mature with five significant operators and penetration of around 85%, is set to welcome fixed line and broadband operator Ukrtelecom's mobile unit Utel. The government-owned operator hopes to launch its GSM network next year with a spark as Ukraine's first operator to introduce a 3G W-CDMA network, to be launched initially in Kiev.
