Telmex To Begin Calling Party Pays Next Month, To Upset Of Fixed-Line Market
October 2006 | Company Finance AlertTelmex, Mexico's leading fixed-line operator has finally established charges for its Calling Party Pays (CPP) system for calls made from its domestic long-distance calls to mobile phones. The operator reached an agreement last month with the country's leading mobile operators, America Movil, Telefonica Moviles, Grupo Iusacell and Unefon that it would begin charging MXN3.48 per minute for calls from Telmex lines to mobile phones as of November 2006. Of the MXN3.48 to be received, Telmex will pass on MXN1.54 to mobile operators as an interconnection fee, the same rate as received for local fixed-to-mobile calls.
