Ufone Builds on Pakistan Growth Market

BMI continues to admire the growth in Pakistan's mobile market, fuelled by the heightened levels of competition. The latest operator to commit to network expansion, following the recent examples of Telenor and Warid Telecom, is PTCL-owned Ufone. Pakistan's second largest operator has awarded Huawei Technologies a US$550mn contract to expand its network, a project that within 18 months should double the operator's customer base from about 8.5mn.
