European Operators Try To Recoup 3G Billions
October 2006 | Industry NewsEuropean mobile operators have taken a blow in their fight to recoup billions of pounds spent on 3G licences. The UK's five 3G licence holders are attempting to claim back 17.5% of the GBP22.5bn paid for their licences, claiming that the fees included value-added tax that should be refunded. The operators argue that the British government acted as a commercial entity in selling the licences, and that the final bill should be considered as including VAT.
