Telenor Pushes Forward Pakistan Investment Programme

The entrance of Telenor and Warid Telecom in 2005 to Pakistan's mobile market immediately sparked off huge growth equating to a 330% y-o-y rise that year. Growth over the first six months of this year is at about 50%, and we project there to be over 40mn mobile subscribers by the end of 2006. BMI forecasts this healthy growth will continue until the end of our forecast period, and that by end-2010, Pakistan will have a teledensity in excess of 50% and a subscriber base of over 90mn.
