Triple-Play Beckons For Tiscali
August 2006 | Company News AlertItalian internet service provider Tiscali is set to enter the UK triple-play arena following a merger agreement with Video Networks, the owner of struggling British internet television business Homechoice. Under the terms of the deal, Video Networks will sell Homechoice in exchange for a 11.5% stake in Tiscali's UK division, valuing Homechoice at around GBP100mn. Video Networks could see its stake in Tiscali rise to 20% if certain profit targets are met. The tie-up will allow Tiscali to offer telephone and television services to its internet subscribers, thanks to Homechoice's library of films, music videos and pay-TV channels.
