Spanish Regulator Cuts Termination Rates, Tries To Boost Competition

The CMT said that a recent analysis of the market for termination rates had revealed a lack of competition, with all three operators in a dominant position to set their own prices. Under the ruling, market leader Telefónica Moviles (TEM) must cut its termination rates by 15.85% every six months, Vodafone Spain by 16.28% while Amena, owned by France Telecom, must reduce its charges by 17.78%.
