Vivo Sets About Launching Its Dual GSM - CDMA Network
July 2006 | Company Finance AlertThe cost to be incurred by Brazilian mobile operator Vivo regarding the overlay of GSM technology over its existing CDMA network is in refute. The operator, which has allocated EUR2bn (US$2.51bn) of its EUR9bn 2006-2009 budget has been seen by some industry insiders to be more expensive than necessary. Local analysts have placed the figure closer to BRL1.4bn (US$648mn), while investment bank Morgan Stanley commented that to overlay its existing network would require an additional investment of US$1.25bn for the company in 2007.
