Regional Operator EPM Buys Out Remaining Stake In Orbitel

Colombia's third-ranked fixed-line operator Empresas Publicas de Medellin (EPM) has wholly acquired long distance operator Orbitel, raising its holding from its previous 50% stake. EPM, which acquired the remaining stake from prior owners Grupo Sarmiento and Grupo Valorem at a cost of US$85mn, will enable it to move nearer its goal of providing a comprehensive service portfolio including voice, data and entertainment services both nationally and internationally.
