Indian Government Plays Part in Growth of Indian Mobile Market

Growth in India's mobile sector continues unabated. By the end of April 2006, there were over 93mn subscribers, taking India past Japan in terms of subscriber numbers. BMI forecasts that India will overtake Russia next year and USA the year after in terms of subscriber numbers, with the Indian market set to have 130mn subscribers by the end of 2006.
