SingTel Results Reveal Dependence on Regional Growth

SingTel has recorded its highest operating revenues for fiscal year 2005-06, ending March 31, 2006, breaking the SGD13bn mark for the first time, resulting in y-o-y growth of 4.1%. Net profit for the year rose by 27% to SGD4.2bn. Whilst the operator's own domestic market remains saturated and lacking in growth potential and Australia (Optus) continues to suffer from competitive and pricing pressures, growth from SingTel's regional mobile associates remains impressive, particularly in Indonesia (Telkomsel) and India (Bharti).
