Simobil Increases Profits and Eyes 3G Licence

Slovenia's second largest mobile operator Si.mobil saw its revenues increase by 14.8% during 2005 to EUR100.8mn. The operator, which is 92% controlled by Mobilkom Austria, also recorded operating profit of EUR3.5mn, up 3% y-o-y. This was the first time that the operator had recorded a net profit since its launch in 1999. Total subscriber numbers were down 1% to 359,600 but the operator blamed this fall on changes imposed by regulator APEK, which dictates that any subscription inactive for more than 90 days must be discounted from operators' figures.
