RomTelecom Resolves Spectrum Dispute With Vodafone
March 2006 | Legal NewsRomania's incumbent telecoms operator has resolved its spectrum dispute with Vodafone. RomTelecom had been granted a temporary licence to use a certain spectrum frequency to offer fixed wireless services in Alba, Buzau and Cluj counties. However, the spectrum allocation was then sold to Vodafone as part of its 3G licence, for which it paid US$35mn in 2004. RomTelecom was supposed to have released the spectrum to Vodafone in 2005, but its failure to do so has delayed the extension of Vodafone's 3G services to this region. RomTelecom has now agreed to shut down the wireless
